Seasonal Vaccinations (Flu & COVID-19)

We offer seasonal vaccinations, including flu and COVID-19 vaccines, to eligible patients in line with NHS guidance. All vaccinations are subject to availability.
We kindly encourage you to support Cranbrook Medical Practice by booking your seasonal vaccinations with us. Vaccination programmes provide vital funding that helps us continue delivering the best care and services to our community.

Why Seasonal Vaccinations Are Important

Seasonal viruses such as flu and COVID-19 can cause serious illness, particularly for vulnerable groups.
Vaccination helps to:

  • Reduce the risk of severe illness and complications
  • Protect vulnerable people
  • Reduce pressure on NHS services during winter

Who Is Eligible

Eligibility is based on national NHS criteria and may change each year.
Eligible groups commonly include:

  • People aged 65 and over
  • Patients with certain long-term health conditions
  • Pregnant women
  • Residents of care homes
  • Frontline health and social care workers
  • Children as part of the national flu vaccination programme

What to Expect

  • Seasonal vaccination clinics run mainly during autumn and winter
  • Eligible patients will be invited to book by text, phone, or letter
  • Appointments depend on vaccine supply and availability
  • Some patients may receive vaccines at pharmacies, schools, or community clinics

Flu Vaccination for Children

GP practices are only commissioned to provide flu vaccinations for children of certain ages or those with specific medical conditions that place them at higher risk.
Children who are eligible but not considered at risk will usually receive their flu vaccination at school as part of the national school-aged flu immunisation programme.

If Your Child Misses Their School Flu Vaccination

If your child misses their flu vaccination at school, please do not contact the GP practice in the first instance.
Instead, contact Kernow Health, who can advise you about local community catch-up clinics where your child may be able to receive the vaccine.

COVID-19 Vaccination

COVID-19 booster vaccinations are offered seasonally to eligible patients, in line with national guidance.
Invitations may come from:

  • The practice
  • The NHS national booking system
  • Local vaccination services

Missed or Declined Vaccinations

If you miss your appointment or later decide you would like to be vaccinated, please contact the practice. Vaccination remains subject to availability.

Private Seasonal Vaccinations

We do not offer private seasonal vaccinations at this practice.
If you are not eligible for NHS-funded seasonal vaccinations, please visit your local pharmacy for further advice and vaccination options.
